Coleshill-based metal presswork specialist HT Brigham & Co Ltd is reaping the rewards of a strategic operational overhaul, following a year of transformative leadership under Operations Manager Dave Bloomer. With an impressive track record at industry powerhouses such as Smiths, Goodrich, United Technologies, and Bodycote, Bloomer has brought a disciplined, data-driven approach to Brigham’s factory floor—delivering measurable gains in quality, production efficiency, and delivery performance.
Tasked with strengthening the company’s core operational output, Bloomer has focused on instilling a culture rooted in accountability, lean methodology, and continuous improvement. His efforts have led to tighter process control, reduced waste, and enhanced cross-functional collaboration—factors that are contributing to improved customer satisfaction and sharper commercial performance.
“From day one, we saw an opportunity to bring structure and visibility to our operations, while respecting the deep experience already present in the team,” says Bloomer. “It’s been about creating systems that allow people to succeed—clear targets, real-time metrics, and a mindset of owning the outcome. That’s how we’ve started to shift the dial.”
The operational transformation aligns closely with HT Brigham’s strategic vision, championed by CEO Doug Allen, who took the helm following a management buyout in 2022. With a senior aerospace manufacturing pedigree that includes leadership roles at Moog, UTC Aerospace Systems, and Goodrich, Allen has brought a strong focus on systems thinking and process excellence—principles that underpin the company’s Brigham Operating System (BOS).
Allen explains. “What Dave has done is execute that thinking on the shop floor—translating strategic intent into day-to-day action. His industry experience means he understands the importance of rigour, but also how to lead teams through change.”
“To really deliver value to customers, we need strong leadership and a team that’s empowered to perform. That’s what we’re seeing under Dave’s stewardship—greater consistency, clearer ownership, and better outcomes.”
Bloomer’s arrival has brought a fresh operational dynamic to a business steeped in manufacturing heritage. HT Brigham’s evolution from a small local supplier to a globally trusted name has been built on decades of dedication by long-standing team members, including co-owners Allan Murray and Mike Benham. Bloomer’s early impact suggests that the same ethos—of commitment, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement—remains deeply embedded, even as the company embraces a more structured and performance-led future.
As the company looks ahead, Allen is confident in the course being charted. “We’re positioning ourselves for long-term, sustainable growth and breaking through into industries well known to myself and Dave from our long careers working in aerospace,” he says. “And that starts with operational discipline. With Dave driving performance and our investments reinforcing capability, we’re well placed to deliver the predictability and quality our customers rely on.”
With momentum building, HT Brigham is demonstrating how strategic leadership and operational clarity can combine to drive real, lasting impact—even in a legacy manufacturing environment.
