HT Brigham Soars into Aerospace with Coveted AS9100 Certification

HT Brigham & Co Ltd, a long-established West Midlands-based metal presswork specialist, has successfully renewed its AS9100 certification for the second consecutive year—an achievement that reaffirms the company’s capability to meet the rigorous quality standards demanded by the aerospace sector. Awarded by the British Standards Institute (BSI), the certification reflects HT Brigham’s dedication to maintaining a robust and compliant quality management system, essential for serving the highly regulated aerospace, aviation, and defence industries. It also marks a critical step in the company’s strategic expansion into new, high-value market sectors.

With a heritage spanning more than 75 years, HT Brigham has built a strong reputation in precision pressings, supporting a wide range of industries through both low and high-complexity components. The AS9100 standard, recognised globally as the benchmark for aerospace manufacturing quality, provides the company with a vital entry point to work with tier-one suppliers and primes across the aerospace supply chain. It also complements HT Brigham’s existing accreditations—ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and IATF 16949—by adding a layer of discipline tailored specifically to mission-critical, zero-defect environments.

Chief Executive Doug Allen, who joined HT Brigham following a career spanning several blue-chip aerospace organisations, sees the AS9100 renewal as both validation and opportunity. “Having held senior roles at Moog, UTC Aerospace Systems, and Goodrich, where the emphasis on quality, compliance, and operational discipline was second nature, this is a natural progression for HT Brigham” Allen explains. “Bringing that experience to HT Brigham, my aim has been to embed the same mindset here—one that prioritises precision, process control, and a culture of continuous improvement.”

Allen sees the certification as a direct reflection of the company’s evolution. “AS9100 is a framework that ensures we can operate with the predictability, rigour, and reliability that the aerospace industry expects. It demonstrates that HT Brigham can support partners with the same level of assurance they would expect from much larger aerospace-focused manufacturers.”

This milestone coincides with broader operational enhancements at HT Brigham, including the recent refurbishment of a 250-ton Rhodes progression press. The upgrade adds crucial capacity and reliability to the company’s high-volume metal forming capabilities, creating the ideal platform to meet growing aerospace demand while maintaining strict quality benchmarks. It’s a tangible investment that complements the company’s quality credentials and underlines a strategic focus on long-term sector growth.

Allen notes, “We’re combining deep-rooted presswork expertise with targeted investment in infrastructure and systems. The renewed AS9100 certification confirms that we’re ready. Ready to deliver the kind of quality, traceability, and production integrity that aerospace customers rely on.”

This forward momentum is guided by the Brigham Operating System (BOS), a unifying framework that integrates people, processes, and purpose across the organisation. Through BOS, HT Brigham ensures that every improvement—whether in tooling, process control, or quality assurance—contributes directly to customer value and operational resilience.

With this renewed accreditation, HT Brigham is well-positioned to deepen its involvement in aerospace programmes, building on a foundation of trusted engineering and strategic intent.
